During its more than 15-year history, the ASK Lab team has accumulated a significant base of our own hardware and software solutions for a wide range of applications. The most sought-after of these solutions are currently supplied to customers in the form of finished devices and systems. Some of them are electronic modules that continue to be used in the development of new products. Others, after modifying hardware and/or software, are manufactured in accordance with customer requirements.

ASK Lab specialists have gained experience in creating and maintaining many systems based on the Internet platform components we have developed with the use of different communication channels:

  1. Ethernet-based IP-networks, including Power over Ethernet (PoE technology)
  2. Classic modems for dial-up lines
  3. ADSL, VDSL and SHDSL modems
  4. Industrial Wi-Fi Ethernet modems

To date, we have developed and delivered over 10 specialized distributed systems using IP-servers to our customers.

We have more than ten years of experience in development and production of specialized audio and video recorders with information storage on various types of non-volatile media (flash memory, CF or SD-cards, etc.). We have accumulated dozens of effective solutions in this area, especially in the production and operation of small and energy-efficient devices.

For example, one of our multifunctional electronic modules for registration, compressing and recording of audio and video information to an SD-card which simultaneously carries out monitoring of discharge / charge of the installed lithium-polymer battery and issuance of stabilized voltage to power the camcorder, has dimensions of no more than 35 х 35 mm and it has a capacity of no more than 1.1 Watt.

Depending on the version of the recorder, information can come from both analog and digital sources, for example:

  • when recording audio: from conventional analog electret or digital MEMS microphones
  • for video servers: from analog CCTV or digital IP cameras with megapixel matrixes

Many recorders are equipped with wireless transceivers that allow for monitoring and remote control of recording modes and playback of the audio or video information they receive.

The ASK Lab team took part in the development of one of the world’s first network IP video cameras. Later, a series of IP devices for different purposes was created (an Internet platform). The range of embedded devices for transfer of video and audio information over network is still being updated with new inventions. Despite the fact that the market today is filled with all sorts of network cameras with a lot of additional functions, the need for specialized solutions of this type remains.

Today our range of products includes embedded devices and numerous software developments that perform compression, transfer, receipt, playback and storage of audio and video information with remote loading of recordings and remote setting of on/off timers. We also implemented the technology that starts recording when motion or sound is detected for independent functioning, and much more. These devices can be powered with AC adapters, rechargeable batteries or over ‘twisted pair' data cables (PoE technology).

For a long time, due to the obvious interest of our customers and partners, ASK Laboratory has developed and manufactured devices and systems with various types of wireless information transfer. Among them are standardized and commonly used technologies like GSM, GPRS, EDGE, 3G, HSCSD, IEEE802.11x (Wi-Fi) and LTE, as well as our own protocol, providing a protected low-speed (up to 250 Kb/s) exchange in the unlicensed radio frequency bands.

Our ready-made solutions of wireless transfer of audio and video data include wireless extensions of interfaces, command radio modems and various versions of wireless remote controls for digital devices.

Effective power supply often determines the ultimate tactical and technical characteristics of electronic products. Most especially, it concerns portable devices and devices that work in unattended mode. So we could not escape the need to find a solution of this problem.

Many of our devices have integrated controllers of discharge / charge of their lithium-ion or lithium-polymer rechargeable batteries. In cases when there is a need for a separate solution to power small-sized electronic equipment, there are various solutions with the use of Lithium-ion rechargeable batteries.

Lithium-ion nano-phosphate batteries (Li-FePO4) are of particular interest in development and manufacture of new products with unique consumer properties because they have a number of distinctive features, including:Литий-полимерные аккумуляторы нового поколения с беспрецедентными характеристиками LiFePO4 (A123 Systems)

  1. A wide range of operating temperatures: from  −30°С to +60°С
  2. High charge currents (up to 10 A) that reduce charging time to 15 minutes
  3. High discharge currents (continuously – up to 70 A; in pulsed mode – up to 120 A within 10 seconds) and low internal resistance: 8–10 mOhm
  4. High specific capacity: volume – 172 Watt * hour / dm3; weight – 108 Watt * hour / kg
  5. Unprecedented period of storage without maintenance (over 10 years) and service life (up to 15 years)
  6. Low capacity decrease depending on the number of recharge cycles (residual capacity after 1000 cycles of about 95% at operating temperature of 25°C)
  7. The safety level is even higher than that of lead-acid batteries
